After graduating from Smith College with a bachelor's degree in English literature, I wondered about medicine as a way to further engage with the human story. I worked for some years as an EMT on 911 calls in the Boston area, and then as a case manager at a community mental health clinic. Dedicating myself to lifelong learning, I decided to go back to school to become a child psychiatrist. I completed a post-baccalaureate in premedical studies and went on to receive my MD with honors from St. George's University School of Medicine in collaboration with Northumbria University. I trained at the University of Cincinnati psychiatry residency training program and Cincinnati Children's Hospital child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship.
After completing training, I served for many years as an attending psychiatrist leading an interdisciplinary treatment team on AB2 at McLean Hospital, an affiliate of Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. During this time at McLean, I specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of psychotic disorders, including bipolar disorder, psychotic depression, schizophrenia, delirious mania, and catatonia. I also started my private practice in 2019.
